Can People Make Art When They’re Fucked Up?

Here at Diss, we like to get a real, genuine insight into youth culture. One of the things that is common amongst all young people, is that we like to have fun and get drunk. It’s in our culture and it’s a part of who we are.

When people are in these states, the one thing they all have in common, is a genuine belief that they are the most profound people in the world. With profound thoughts, come a false sense of being artistic.

So we decided to conduct a social experiment. Seeing that we can’t enter someone’s mind (yet) and we can’t ask people what they’re thinking, or due to the fact that they will probably speak incoherently, we decided to do the next best thing.

We decided to put our ‘sesh’ theories to the test and see if people can genuinely be artistic and profound when they are screwed up.

To do this, we decided to give people disposables cameras where we knew we would definitely find people who were fucked up. A house party seemed the most logical place. So we gave the hosts 5 disposable cameras for the party, and wanted to see if people could capture the true essence of the British house party and create a shot similar to the New Year shot in Manchester, which is undeniably a masterpiece.

The monkey theory states that a monkey hitting keys on a typewriter for an infinite amount of time, will eventually produce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now this could happen right away, or in a million years time. But it will happen. So in accordance with that, we will probably try our social experiment a lot to see if we can make a masterpiece.

Here’s the best from our first attempt.
